Teechart7 Activex on Windows Server 2008 R2 64x

Post by Norcom » Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:57 am

Dear All,

We have the following problem in our installation (Windows 2008 R2 64x / Teechart Pro7 ActiveX) :
- None of the ASP Server examples are working. Especially on "Return template Chart Example" the buttons and the axis are displayed, we can use the buttons to move/configure the axis, but there is no data.
- Same behavior through our web app.

Please advise,

Regards

George

Something that may help:
I've enabled "Tracing" on IIS and I am getting the following error:
"ASP_LOG_ERROR, Automation server can't create object"

Hi George,

If the chart is created at the client side but empty, it would indicate the chart created by TeeFromWeb.asp isn't correctly transmitted to TeeFromWebClient.asp.
It probably like a lack of permissions on the IIS. Please, make sure the examples folder have a correct permissions.

Also check if the desktop examples (features demo) work fine.

Hi Yeray,

- I have checked the permissions and everything looks ok. I have copied the configuration from another installation where TeeChart works fine. The only difference with the current installation is the Windows Server version: 2008 32x instead of 2008 R2 64x.
Could be something wrong with the 64x?

- The desktop examples work fine!

George

Hi George,

I've tried the ASP demos shipped with the ActiveX v7 and I think I reproduced the problem; all the ASP demos work fine except:
- "Return template Chart Example" (TeeFromWebClient.asp) and "Page showing 4 different export formats" (CompareOutput.asp), where I get an empty chart in the first chart, so the chart seems not to be correctly transmitted from one side to the other.
- "ADO Example (uses TeeChart's example system DSN database)" (ADOTeeChart7.asp), where I get a red cross.

Is this what you are exactly seeing?
Have you tried the actual v2012 version? Many changes have been applied since v7, including an x64 version of the ocx that is shipped with the actual ActiveX version.

Hi Yeray,

- This is exactly what I'm seeing.
- I've tried v2012 but with exactly the same results.

That's strange. It works fine here in the same machine where the v7 reproduces the problem (Win7 x64)
Is it the v2012.0.0.8?

Hi Yeray

- I'm using the TeeChart Pro v2012 ActiveX Evaluation and the diagnostic log from IIS says "ActiveX component can't create object: 'TeeChart.TChart'".
- The same installation in 32bit environment works fine.
- I've cross checked permissions.

Hi Yeray,

I've uninstalled our web application and the Samples from Teechart12 works fine but only if I set the Application Pool in IIS to 32bit mode.
Bear in mind that when I click on the first of the ASP Server Examples i.e. Return template Chart Example, a pop-up window appears with the Steema logo and the version of Teechart which is 2012.0.0.8.120604 32bit ActiveX.
Can I use Teechart in pure 64bit environment?

Hi George,

Please make sure you have the 64 bit ocx in your "64bit files" folder registered in the machine. Run "regsvr32 TeeChart201264.ocx" to do so.
