I am getting the error
Could not transform licenses file 'licenses.licx' into a binary resource.
I am working on a project for a customer nad all i got from him was the teechart.dll (version 1.1.1879.21176) and the teechart.xml files.
We own several versions of steema software.
First question what version does that dll go to. I think if I install that version it will just work.
Is there another way to do this. how do I get past this error?

Hello,
In order to compile your application with TeeChart you will need a registry key that will enable you to do so. This registry key is created when the TeeChart binary installer is run on a machine. You may like to ask your client to send this installer to you or to use the license keys you used to enter these forums to download it from the customers downloads page.

Wow,
Chris thanks for the quick reply.
I have installed the version I have using the password I entered this site with.
That installed dll version 1.1.1675.27998.
So the license does not match the license.licx key? I think.
The license.licx
Steema.TeeChart.TChart, TeeChart, Version=1.1.1879.21176, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9c8126276c77bdb7
So I think that I need to install the version that matches the customers so that the license.licx will match or I need to generate a new license.licx that matches the installation I have.
1. What version would I need to install so that it matches the customers version. Version 1.1.1879.21176. The customer by the way does not have the original media. Tried that already.
2. How can I make a new license.licx (Can I hand edit the one I have?).
3. Other suggestions?

Hello,
You might like to create a new WinForm project and drop a TeeChart onto the form from the ToolBox. You could then use the resulting licenses.licx file created. If that doesn't work, try removing the licenses.licx from your client's project and all TeeChart objects from any designtime winforms and then adding in TeeChart objects new from the ToolBox.

Once again,
Quick response.
I already tried creating a new project and it did not make a new license.licx file.
Deleting the teechart items from a project of this size is not an option.
If I remove the license.licx then it will not compile. It says "cannot create an instance of 'steema.TeeChart.Chart' a valid license could not be granted. Then gives me a bunch of errors saying I have no reference to the teechart items that are in the project.
So I have asked several times.
What version would I need to obtain to use the dll (version 1.1.1879.21176) that the customer gave me. If I new the version I might have it alreay. My boss indicates that we have purchased other versions in the past. I think if I install that version then it will just work.
Can we start by telling me that and if my present licensing allows me to get that version?
Is there a second level support or some other means to look into this. Maybe we could escalate this to some degree?

Hello,
Licensing was introduced mid-way through the life of TeeChart for .NET version 1, meaning that the version you have may not have the licensing code in it.
May I suggest, for the second time, that you download the latest binary installer from the Customers Download pages:
http://www.steema.com/downloads/client_access.html
The latest full version installer is v1.1.2004.16592. Try installing this version, reading the Tutorial on licensing and seeing if you can get a licenses.licx file to be created when adding a TeeChart to a WinForm.

Sorry, My fault.
I did not understand WHY you wanted me to download and reinstall.
It compiles without a licensing issue now.
I do have another issue. I can start a new thread if you would like.
When i put in the new chart and select properties i get a dialog with a bunch of tabs in it for editingthe properties.
The old charts (The existing ones) will not giveme this dialog.
Is there I way to get the old charts to give that dialog (Without deleting all of them and putting new ones in).

Hi DougJ,
At run-time you can also use:
TeeChart for .NET has always been shipped with the chart editor feature. However you may want to check you project references to the TeeChart assembly and update them to your current version. When i put in the new chart and select properties i get a dialog with a bunch of tabs in it for editingthe properties.
The old charts (The existing ones) will not giveme this dialog.

At run-time you can also use:
Code: Select all
tChart1.ShowEditor();
