Hi ikke,

You should install the Visual Studio 2008 components to get the .NET Framework 3.5 assemblies. VS2008 was released alongside .NET Framework 3.5.

We are sorry you have received this error. Can you please tell me on which Operating System you were running the installer on and which version of Visual Studio you chose for installation?

Can I please ask you to tell me what happens if you run the installer again, but this time changing the name of the installation folder slightly so the installer has to create a new one? Do you still get the same error?

Unfortunately, this is a limitation with the present installer which will be resolved for the next maintenance release.

To obtain the net35 assemblies, please re-run the installer *selecting a unique folder name* and choose the VS2008 option.

I don't think there's a problem here. If you have all the assemblies you need in the net35 and net45 folders then you will be able to use all of them in VS2012 on Win8.

Are you able to use both the net35 and net45 assemblies you need? If not, could you please give me details of the problems you're experiencing?

Does this error occur if you run the VS2012 as "run as Administrator"?

If the error doesn't occur when you run the VS2012 IDE as "run as Administrator", then please do so for now. This is a known issue in the binaries you have and has already been fixed; the fix will become available in a new maintenance release due out within the next two or three working days.
