When it was design we didn't anticipate performance issues like this. If I got you detail specs on what hardware is running, would you be able to determine where the bottleneck is?
What I can offer you though is to test your code on a relevant emulator. If you could create a short, self contained, correct (compilable) example and tell me on which emulator / Visual Studio version you run it on, I can do a performance profile on the code and tell you where the bottleneck is appearing on our side.
