install problem into delphi.net

Post by msh » Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:13 am

I installed a copy of 8.02 VCL to use with Delphi.net in RAD studio 2007. Components appeared in the pallete and can be placed and edited as normal but when I try to run an application just consisting of a chart on a form I get the following:-
'Project encountered unhandled exception class "System.TypeInitializationException"

It does this with any TeeChart component on the form. I note it does add Steema.TeeChart,VCL.dll to the references when a chart is placed.

It works under Win32 so presumably this is an installation issue, please help.

I have Delphi5 and an early version of TeeChart (6.01) already installed

Hi msh,

Could you please check that v8.02's "LibNet" folder is the only TeeChart path at Tools->Options->Environment Options->Delphi Options->Library - NET->Library Path?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

C:\Program Files\Steema Software\TeeChart 8.02 for Delphi 2007\Delphi11\LibNet

This is the only TeeChart path in Library Path, it is also referenced in Debug DCUIL path

Hello,

the problem could be related with old dll's.
Please go to F:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Borland Studio Projects folder and if there you can find the Teechart dlls please remove them.
Once this has been done, closing the BDS, open it again and adding the correct dll should work fine.

Hi- no luck I'm afraid.

However if I delete the steema reference from the project it compiles and I get a chart I can control, but I have lost all design time information. Is this relevant?

further info - If I select 'Link in Delphi Units' rather than 'Copy Local' (the default) for your dll in the references list it runs ok and appears to largely work. I lose the series structure created at design time but titles etc seem to come through to run time.
What am I misunderstanding here?

Hi msh,

We build our latest v8 sources and got it working fine here. I'll send you an e-mail with the URL to download latest compiled files. Could you please uninstall and replace existing ones with new ones and reinstall the packages? You can use TeeInstall.exe provided with the installation.

Please let us know when you finished downloading the package as we will remove it from our server.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Thanks - this solved my problem.

FYI the exact same sequence of events occured when I installed our second copy on another machine, so it does look as if the release on the web is not quite what you think it is!

Thanks again

Hi msh,

Thanks for the information. I'm glad to hear that solved your problem.

We are currently working on the next release which we expect will fix this issue.
