v8.04/Delphi2009 installation problem
v8.04/Delphi2009 installation problem
Hello,
I have downloaded TeeChart8.04Delphi2009.exe but when I execute it I get this: "The installer has detected that Codegear Delphi is in use. Please close ...". However, no Delphi version is currently open. I have even rebooted my PC but to no avail. To check further, I downloaded and ran TeeChart8.04Delphi7.exe which proceeded to install without a problem.
I have checked with TaskManager and SysInternals' Process Explorer: There is absolutely nothing related to Codegear Delphi running.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Dag Hovden

Hi Dag,
Could you please check that bds.exe is not running in Task Manager's Processes list?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dag,
Also, if you are running the installer in Windows Vista are you running it with Administrator privileges? You can right-click on it and choose the "Run as Administrator" option.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
"Could you please check that bds.exe is not running in Task Manager's Processes list?"
Done, also checked with Process Explorer, but no bds.exe anywhere.
And running XP, not Vista.

Dag Hovden

Hi Dag,
This is very strange as the installer only searches for bds.exe running.
A few months ago another client had the same problem:
http://www.teechart.net/support/viewtopic.php?t=7437
This is a 2 page thread and a part of it is in Spanish. The client said he had solved the problem but didn't explain how. I have asked him to share this with us now.
In the meantime I'll send you an e-mail with the URL to download uncompressed packages together with Install.txt, which includes installation and instructions and TeeInstall.exe. You can try using TeeInstall for automatically installing the packages at Delphi 2009. However, it's likely that it will produce same error so, if this happens, you'll have to follow instructions in Install.txt to install packages manually.
We haven't been able to identify you as a v8 Pro registered customer. Could you please provide your v8 license number before sending you the packages? You can post details here or send them to info at steema dot com.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I had seen that thread but couldn't follow when it turned into Spanish

Ah, but I'm not. The version I've been working with until now was v5 but changing over to Delphi2009, I thought I'd download the latest TeeChart and test it, but what I have is (I assume) a trial version.
Regards,
Dag

Hi Dag,
Yes, Path\bin\bds.exe is searched for in running process list. Where Path is the path to IDE main folder. Both strings to compare are uppercased before being compared.
