Installation Error

We just bought 10 more licenses for TeeChart Pro version 2010 for Visual Studio.NET. When I tried to install the first one on my machine, it runs through until the popup "Installer is about to add visible components to the VS 2005 toolbox". I click ok, it's busy for a while (no dialog asking about source control), then I get the error message "The file C:\Program Files\Steema Software\TeeChart for .Net 2010\TeeChartForNET\Web.Config could not be opened. The system cannot find the path specified.".

Indeed this directory and file do not exisit. I have the directory C:\Program Files\Steema Software\TeeChart for .Net 2010\ which contains 5 subfolders (BACKUP, Docs, Examples, Sample Data, Utils) and a few files like the TeeChart.dll but no directory "TeeChartForNET".

When I try to compile my code, I now get an exception "a valid license could not be granted".

I'm using MS VS 2005 and Clearcase.

We are stuck, this is holding up our project. Please help.

I have downloaded an older version (4.0) now, and the installation succeeded (and the directory and file Web.config are also there now). However I still get an exception when trying to compile our code. We use version 3.5.3065.19161 in our product. The licenses we bought are for the latest version.

When I try to compile my code, I now get an exception "a valid license could not be granted".

This is probably an issue with the installation with the designtime developer license. I recommend you to follow the instructions here and here to address such issues.

The error from VS 2005 compiler is:

Error 1 Exception occurred creating type 'Steema.TeeChart.TChart, TeeChart, Version=3.5.3065.19161, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9c8126276c77bdb7' System.ComponentModel.LicenseException: An instance of type 'Steema.TeeChart.Chart' was being created, and a valid license could not be granted for the type 'Steema.TeeChart.Chart'. Please, contact the manufacturer of the component for more information. C:\Views\cgafesr1383\CGAFE\NetSrc\CFM.ChartEngine\licenses.licx 1 CFM.ChartEngine

As I mentioned, I do have the Teechart 4.0 installed on my machine now successfuly, so the license is there but does not work. Please help, we have been stuck for days on this now! Thanks!

I've tried both without success. In the registry, with the License key in there or not did not make any difference. Also, the assembly folder was pointing to the folder where I just installed Teechart. I removed that key, and it did not make a difference.

Also, here is the complete contents of the licenses.licx file that was mentioned in the exception:

When I reference the newly installed Teechart.dll 4.0 from my project, then it builds. But once again, we use an older version 3.5 in our product, and when I reference that, I get the compiler error. We may upgrade from Teechart 3.5 to 4.0 in a few months, but this will need to go thru the usual release qualification. Until then, we will need to continue to develop and ship 3.5.

Ok, this would seem to indicate that the v4 license is correctly installed but not the v3 license. Have you checked what I told you for the v3 license as well?

thanks for your response. So the licenses we bought apparently work only for v4. I have emailed sales now to get corresponding v3 licenses.
