wondering how to build a population map

I need to build a population density map of a stadium and am not sure what the best way to proceed. I was thinking I could use an image of the stadium for the background and then use a normal map chart but am not sure that this would be the best way to go. Any suggestions?

Some time ago, we made an experimental example that may be a good idea for you:

To achieve it follow this steps:
- Open the demo at All features\Welcome !\Chart styles\Statistical\Color Grid\ColorGrid Bitmap
- Open the editor double-clicking on the yellow memo text.
- In the Chart/Series tab, change the series type to a Surface.
- In the Chart/3D tab, activate the "3 Dimensions" checkbox, set the "3D %" to 100, unselect the "Orthogonal" checkbox and set the "Zoom" to 70 %.
- In the Tools tab, add a Rotate Tool.
